Southwestern Landfill Environmental Assessment

Public Events

Public events are just one way Walker engages with community members on the Southwestern Landfill Environmental Assessment (EA). At public events, participants can learn about project details, key milestones of the EA process, and meet with Walker project team members. This is also a great way for members of the public to ask questions, provide input and make recommendations on the project.

2020 Public Events- Draft Environmental Assessment

Online Open House held June 17, 2020 – Follow-up Materials

On Wednesday, June 17, Walker hosted the first virtual public consultation event in the form of an Online Open House. During this event Walker presented the Key Findings of the Draft EA, followed by a Question and Answer period where members of the public could ask questions and receive answers in real-time.

The following materials include the Video Recording of the event, and a Questions & Answers Document where Walker has provided written answers to all questions received in advance as well as all questions received during the Online Open House event.

Previous Public Events

Since 2012, Walker has hosted 8 public events on the Southwestern Landfill. During the Terms of Reference (TOR) phase, we hosted 3 events and during the EA phase, we have hosted 5 events to-date. These events took place at key milestones as committed to during the ToR. The figure below summarizes the consultation milestones during the EA:

Poster boards and handouts for all of these public events can be viewed in the Public Events documents section of this website.
