We have a core group of employees who work on the Southwestern Landfill proposal. We also engage the expertise of our colleagues, including operations, environmental performance, and health and safety, as well as independent experts.

Darren is responsible for the overall management of the Southwestern Landfill Environmental Assessment (EA).

Darren has been with Walker Environmental since 2003 and is tasked with identifying and implementing strategic growth initiatives. In his former role at Walker, he played a key role in developing five landfill gas-to-energy projects along with three carbon emission reduction projects. Darren also has over a decade of technical experience in both Canada and the United States managing landfill permitting, construction, remediation, and closure projects. He is a recognized expert in the field of waste management and resource recovery. 

Darren pursued a career in the environmental field with diplomas in Geology and Geotechnical Engineering from Fleming College - School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences. He has also completed course-specific studies at Harvard Law School, Queens University, and NYU Stern. 

Darren is an avid adventurer and spent several years traveling around the globe before settling back in his home town.

Joe is responsible for overseeing the coordination of the Environmental Assessment Consulting Team. Joe joined Walker Environmental in 2008 and is responsible for managing land use planning and permit approvals. Before Joe's tenure at Walker, he worked closely with land use planning approvals and developments in both the public and private sector. 

Joe holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University.

Leslie started working for Walker Environmental early 2019 as an Administrative Assistant for the project team. She has recently moved into a Community Engagement role and is now responsible for developing relationships with local stakeholders including public and Indigenous communities. Leslie is committed to facilitating open, transparent, and respectful conversations. 

Leslie holds an Honours Bachelor of Geography & Environmental Science from McMaster University.

Leslie enjoys running outside, gardening, and playing guitar. As a long-time resident of Oxford County, she is passionate about her local environment and community.

Steve is responsible for designing and guiding the Environmental Assessment process for the Southwestern Landfill Proposal, in addition to other related approvals. 

Steve has more than 25 years of experience working on a wide variety of environmental approvals in Ontario. He has carried out or contributed to dozens of Environmental Assessments for private and public sector waste management undertakings across the province in addition to projects elsewhere in Canada and internationally.

Steve is a Professional Engineer holding a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Science Engineering degree from Queen's University.

As an administrator for the project, Leticia will be providing support for the Southwestern Landfill Proposal Team.

Leticia began working with Walker Industries in 2004 as a co-op student from Niagara College. Upon graduating from the Office Administration - Executive program in 2005, Leticia was hired on full-time as an Administrative Clerk with Walker Environmental. With Leticia's dedication to continuous learning and enthusiasm for graphic design she has completed the Multimedia Techniques program at Collège LaSalle. This has broadened her skill set and she now designs helpful graphics, information pages and videos. With Leticia's background in administration and additional capabilities she provides added support to the entire Environmental Assessment Team.
